This post is part of a series called London 2015

(May 4, 2015)

I couldn’t get up this morning, so I stayed in bed. They left me sleeping until 11:30am and went to see Westminster Abbey. From there they went to the Tower of London and lunch.

I did some laundry and caught up on blog posts. This evening is a concert at St. Martin in the Fields, followed by dinner at Rules.

The concert was Vivaldi’s Gloria, and was truly lovely.

It was an easy walk to Rules, and the interior is distinctly British Club. Lots of great service, and people to do things for you. We didn’t even mind (too much) being seated right by the door. We started with cocktails (no, Guinness and champagne do NOT mix) along with salads and oysters (Native = no, Jersey = no, Fines de Claire are a yes). Our mains were a leg & saddle of rabbit with leeks, a potato pancake and a light mustard sauce (not creamy). A seared breast of duck with beetroot, candied walnuts and Grand Marnier sauce. And a pork tenderloin with roast carrots, parsnips, & charcutiere sauce. I had my usual glass of wine for dessert, they enjoyed a sticky toffee pudding. I’m not sure I’d eat here again, but it was something I’m glad I did.
