Greetings! I'm probably one of the few who doesn't actually know you IRL (found this blog via the Americans in Portugal FB group), but I am enjoying every minute of your adventures. I love this philosophy: "But luck, as they say, is the meeting of opportunity and preparation." My partner and I are both planners through and through -- we're probably looking at 10-15 years before retirement and Portugal, to give you an idea just how Type-A we are -- but we're also fine with the idea that nothing is set in stone. You do your research, try to account for the variables, and give it your best shot. If it doesn't work out or if things change, you adapt and try something else. That's what keeps life interesting.

Hi Scott - it's my bad, Lisa has had posts queued up for a bit now (and I have drafts) but typically I fire them off when ready and I just kept letting it slide off my plate. Going up in just a bit, thanks for your patience. :)

That's exactly what I said about working in Jamaica for a year! Whatever happened (and it ended up going to hell in a handbasket, sure enough...) I'd at least have cocktail party fodder for the rest of my life.

If I'd known *this* was going to happen I probably would have given island life a pass. :p

My wife is now forever dubbed "Shuzzue" (pronounced, as far as I'm concerned, "Shuh-zoo-eh"). And "Suz" is correct-you're not as bad a friend as you portray.

Have to agree. While sitting in a WotC conference room pondering the One Power, I certainly never guessed you to be the theater-loving world-traveller you turned out to be. That it was partnered with yet another person at that table, besides.

Much love, friends.
