“Why Portugal” is a big question with a long answer, but the very short version is “it came out on top of a plusses & minuses list when we chose between several places.” Watch this space for more details. 🙂

“Where in Portugal” is not so much big as vague – there have been roughly 5 different answers to it so far, and just yesterday a real estate agent in Portugal caused us to reconsider our current answer and go back to looking at an earlier one. The clearest answer at the moment is “Braga or Porto.” But seriously, don’t put much on that, it could be Evora or something by November. :p

Speaking of a real estate agent, we absolutely do *not* have a home picked out. We don’t expect that we will any time soon. We’ll take a 1 year lease on our first place as required by the immigration policies and then assess our options for year 2 once we get there. “Acceptably ok” is all that our first place needs to be.
